Chair-covers are a relatively inexpensive way to dress up a lacklustre venue, a sash coordinated with your theme colour adds that personal touch.
Function venues are generally multipurpose, that is, they are used day in day out for a variety of events. This means that the room is generally designed as a ‘blank canvas’ to maximise the utility of the room. That’s great for a conference or seminar – but this is your wedding day!
You have spent hours picking out the perfect dress, hairstyle and car, painstakingly chosen outfits for the bridesmaids and groomsmen and spoken at length with your entertainer to make sure the songs will create the perfect scene to share with your friends and family. The average Bride and Groom spend anywhere from 5 hours at their reception venue with their closest family and friends – so this is a space that you want to invest time into themeing and styling to make sure it is just right.
The dreams and ideas regarding Reception venue décor generally start with the centre-piece, a lot of time is spent picking flowers or candles, colour and theme. The table linen, like chair covers is often overlooked, whilst most venues supply white or black table cloths, there are a range of amazing designs and colours available, a simple table runner will assist in maximising your theme. When choosing your chair covers there are some important factors to consider:
Fit - Chairs, like Reception venues come in a wide range of sizes and shapes, make sure that your chosen covers will suit the chairs to be used by either requesting measurements or doing a trial fitting, at Visionary weddings we have experience with many function venues and can advise if our chair-covers will be suitable for your chosen venue.
Function - Although your chosen chair covers may fit the venue chairs give some thought as to how they will move throughout the night, guests will be moving about, as such a fitted chair-cover with ‘feet’ is generally the best option. These chair covers have pockets which fit around the foot of the chair and keep them in place.
Colours - While the tradition has been toward white chair covers, black can be an elegant option which lets your theme colour stand out. As the lights go down and your entertainment begins, the chairs fade stylishly into the back-ground, your night has now visibly shifted from dinner to entertainment.
Location - Give some thought to the location of your reception, outdoor receptions will inevitably see the bottoms of your chair-covers become dirty throughout the night (which may incur a laundry fee) white chair-covers may show a ring of dirt or mud around the bottom whereas black will hide, for the most part, any unsightly marks.
