Planning: Keeping it together
Planning: Keeping it together
Written by Rebecca Stewart, Visionary Weddings
When planning your wedding it can be easy to become overwhelmed with information, ideas and contacts. Creating yourself an organiser will help you to keep on track and avoid the stress involved when trying to keep all of that information in your head.
Divide and conquer. Divide your organiser into sections to make it easy for future reference, this will create a structure and help you to keep focused on areas of importance. For each person the way that you divide may be different, create a list of the things that are important to you and they will naturally fall into their own categories.
List it. For each category make a list of tasks that need to be complete, if budget is important to you, you might like to set a column aside for your budgeted amount.
Allocate. give each task a rating of importance from things that must be done and things that can wait – as time goes on you might find that the things that have to wait really don’t need to be there!
Work Backwards. Often, Brides will think that they’re on top of it all only to find that as the date gets closer there are too many things to be done. If you work backwards from the date and allow plenty of ‘contingency’ time you will save yourself that stress. Always allow yourself more time than you think you’ll need, that way if something goes wrong there is enough time to fix it! Put the dates that you come up with into your task list where relevant and you have created your plan of action.
Work it! Stick to your plan of action and you will feel organised and confident that nothing has been missed, this way you can enjoy the process of planning your wedding day. Reward yourself as major tasks are overcome and you will naturally fall into the planning process.
